Moulded Foams awarded Lighthouse contract

Moulded Foams Limited Scotland are pleased to announce the award of a significant contract to be the sole supplier of expanded polystyrene road-freight and air-freight boxes to Lighthouse Caledonia at Cairndow in Argyll.
Lighthouse Caledonia are one of the largest producers in Scotland of farmed Atlantic salmon and have harvested around 22,000 tonnes of salmon in 2007, with a phased increase to around 30,000 tonnes expected by 2010.
Our manufacturing site at Cumbernauld is ideally situated to be incorporated in the round trip required to make the supply of boxes cost efficient, reliable and sustainable.
We have been supplying boxes to Lighthouse Caledonia for a number of months now with positive feedback that the total operation is slick with all three parties involved namely Lighthouse Caledonia, Moulded Foams Limited and Inverdell Haulage, working as a team with clear communication links and dedicated personnel.
As to the future, Moulded Foams Limited can look forward to the higher volumes predicted by Lighthouse Caledonia with confidence that our capacity, quality procedures, service and dedicated personnel are all in place to continue the good work already achieved and allow us to be recognised as an integral part of the Lighthouse Caledonia supply chain for many years to come.
New foam manufacturing site opens in Carrickfergus

The plant which is an associated company to Moulded Foams Ltd will be run by the vastly experienced Derek Thompson who will oversee the development of business in insulation bead and other cellular foam applications for the UK and Republic of Ireland markets.
Mr John Thornberry, Managing Director of Moulded Foams added ' this development is evidence of our strategy to develop new products and markets and further strengthens our strategic manufacturing base in cellular foam within both the UK and Republic of Ireland.'
Dave Christie appointed Operations Manager

Moulded Foams are pleased to announce the recent appointment of Dave Christie to Operations Manager Scotland from his current position in Cumbernauld. Dave, who has been with the business since 1994 will now expands his role to cover operations at two plants, Cumbernauld and the Shetland Isles.
'There has been significant investment in plant and machinery both by Moulded Foams and our customers to advance the farmed salmon supply chain in Shetland. Dave's appointment is further evidence of the investment we make in people' stated Mr John Thornberry.
Moulded Foams secure strategic Automotive foam within UK market.

Moulded Foams are delighted to announce that it has successfully secured new Automotive EPP foam business with a new partner that will further enhance its growing position within the Automotive sector.
The decision to award this work was an easy one for Trelleborg who saw the Moulded Foams business as an ideal suitor for the work that has been relocated from their plant in West Thurrock. Having fought off serious competition for the award, Mr John Thornberry, MD of Moulded Foams was quoted in saying : 'It has been a strategic aim to grow the business in automotive foams and it is most fortunate for Moulded Foams to find a partner which offers great synergies between the companies'.
The foam will be manufactured from its Tonypandy base initially, that has over ten years experience in manufacturing automotive foams to the highest standards.
Sales of 'Tdeck' panels top £750k

Moulded Foams (through supply partners Combined Thermal Solutions) are delighted to announce that sales for its new BBA certified insulation panel have surpassed £750k in its first full year of production.
The panel that is used as part of insulated concrete floors in new builds in accordance with new Part L Building Regulations, has proven to be a great success.
Moulded from lightweight closed cell EPS, the panels are designed to suit the majority of existing pre-stressed beam profiles and replace standard building blocks to offer far superior insulation in the floor structure.
Mr John Thornberry of Moulded Foams stated 'This was the first of a series of 4 product developments to meet new building regulations by Moulded Foams. Success with Tdeck allows us to focus on the next progression of this system'.

LINAPC Moulded Foams have a reputation within the foam industry that is second to none and have enjoyed being part of the LINPAC Group for over 15 years, a period of time that has witnessed their continued growth in status as a preferred supplier to many major OEM's.
The new business, Moulded Foams Ltd, is now as a result of this purchase the largest independent moulder of cellular foams in the UK and Mr Thornberry sees the wealth of experience that the the new company has in manufacturing foam in a wide range of industrial sectors, in conjunction with its four strategically located sites, as key to its continued growth and development.
DCB Mouldings joins the BPF's EPS Packaging Group

DCB Mouldings has joined the BPF's EPS (expanded polystyrene) Packaging Group. The Scottish-based company, it has manufacturing sites in Cumbernauld and Shetland, recently come under the management and ownership of John Thornberry who is majority shareholder and managing director.
DCB Mouldings employs 28 people on its two sites and had a turnover of £4 million in 2006. Thornberry, a 42-year old entrepreneur is excited about the future of his venture: "As owner and manager I am totally committed to developing a company that will provide great value for our customers".
"Our expertise and knowledge in shape moulding is second-to-none. We will be supplying an individually tailored service, which is flexible and accommodating, to all our customers".
"Our focus is on three key sectors; produce boxes, construction and protective packaging. We have made substantial investments in the future of the business; £750,000 on our Shetland operation in 2004 with more planned for this year, and £600,000 in 2006 at our Cumbernauld site in plant and machinery for construction products".
Joining the BPF's EPS Packaging Group is part of Thornberry's long-term strategy to develop his company: "Becoming a member allows me to gain a good understanding of the marketplace and of developing trends in the industry".
"I can plan my future strategies accordingly. Also, I am keen to support the outstanding promotional work that the Group does, activities like the Great EPS Chair Grab in Trafalgar Square last September; benefit everyone in the EPS moulding industry".
"The EPS recycling information service that the Group provides is important for our industry and it will be useful to my customers and to their customers, " adds Thornberry.
